Edley is the Dean of the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley, a position he has held since 2004. Previously, he spent 23 years as a professor at Harvard Law School, where his students included the president-elect.

Daley was Commerce secretary in the Clinton administration and before that was chair of the administration's task force on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). During the 2000 campaign, he was the chairman for the Gore-Lieberman effort. He is the youngest child of former Chicago mayor Richard J. Daley and brother of current Chicago mayor, Richard M. Daley. Daley is the current Midwest chairman for J.P.

Kaufman worked on Joe Biden's staff for Biden's first 22 years in the Senate, the last 19 as chief of staff, according to a biography posted by Duke Law, where Kaufman has served as a senior lecturing fellow since 1991.

Kaufman also is president of Public Strategies, a political and management consulting firm in Wilmington, Del. In that capacity he assists corporations and political campaigns with strategy, planning, personnel, and fundraising assistance.

Barnes was a domestic policy advisor to Obama's presidential campaign. Previously, she was executive vice president for policy at the Center for American Progress. Barnes served as chief counsel to Senator Edward M. Kennedy on the Senate Judiciary Committee from 1995 until 2003. Barnes has also worked as director of legislative affairs for the U. S.

Gaspard was the political director for the Obama campaign, a position he assumed in June of 2008. Previously, Gaspard was the executive vice president for politics and legislation for the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East labor union, reportedly the nation's largest union chapter.

Mulcahy is the chair and CEO of Xerox. She became CEO in August 2001 and chair in January 2002, the culmination of a career at Xerox that began in 1976.  Mulcahy also sits on the boards of non-profit Catalyst, Citigroup Inc., Fuji Xerox Company, Ltd., Target

Varney is a partner at law firm Hogan & Hartson, where she heads the firm's Internet practice group. She has lobbied on behalf of the Online Privacy Alliance and other clients.

Strautmanis (Facebook) was a senior adviser to Obama's presidential campaign and previously the chief counsel and deputy chief of staff in Obama’s Senate office.

Schiliro jointed Obama's presidential campaign as a senior adviser in July 2008 after serving Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) for 25 years in capacities that culiminated in chief of staff duties.

Rice was a senior foreign policy advisor to the Obama campaign and is on leave from her post as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, one of D.C.'s oldest policy think tanks.
